Property Tax Drop Boxes Now Available in DeKalb County

DEKALB COUNTY, GA — Homeowners in DeKalb County are encouraged to apply for basic homestead exemptions online before the April 1 deadline, according to the DeKalb County Tax Commissioner’s Office.

DeKalb property tax drop boxes are available at offices located on Memorial Drive, Clairmont Road and South DeKalb Mall. First-time applicants must own and occupy the home as their principal residence as of January 1, 2022, register all vehicles in DeKalb County, file property income taxes, and be exempt from benefits. an exemption from ownership elsewhere, according to a press release.

Basic homestead applications can be submitted online at, by mail, in a drop box or in person. Elderly and disabled exemptions must apply in person, by mail or drop box, and submit federal and state income tax forms, Social Security 1099 forms, proof of age and/or proof of 100% total and permanent disability.

Homestead Exemptions provide a reduction in annual property taxes and are available to individuals who own and occupy the home in the county, including the City of Atlanta portion of DeKalb.

Johnson said in the statement. “I encourage owners who do not have a property exemption to contact my office or visit our website to check their exemption status.
