La Salle County property taxes due Sept. 7 – Shaw Local

The second installment of La Salle County property taxes is due Wednesday, September 7.

Illinois law requires a penalty of 1.5% per month for late payment beginning the day after the due date. This penalty begins on Thursday, September 8.

Residents can pay online with a credit card. Go to www.lasallecountytreasurer.com and under the Payments tab, click on “Pay property tax online”. Credit card payments can also be made at the Treasurer’s Office, 707 E. Etna Road, Ottawa. A convenience fee of approximately 2.5% is charged by credit card processors.

Residents can also pay with an electronic check or automatic withdrawal from a checking or savings account. To register for this service, go to www.lasallecountytreasurer.com and under the Payments tab, click on “Pay property tax online”. There is a $1.50 charge per package for this service. Taxes will be collected the day before the tax due dates.

Residents can pay by phone at 1-833-975-2500 with credit card or electronic check. A convenience fee of approximately 2.5% is charged by credit card processors when paying by credit card. There is a $1.50 fee per package when paying by e-check.

In addition, residents can pay by check. Make checks payable to La Salle County Collector at local financial institutions, Treasurer’s Office via drive-thru drop box, parking lot is on East Etna Road (24 hours), delivered indoors during business hours office (patience required, there may be long queues) or by mail to the secretary of the treasurer.

The last day to pay at local banks is Saturday 10th September. For more information, refer to your tax account.
