New Delhi, Feb 11: After the law enforcement directorate’s Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) 2002 case, the Income Tax is also planning to take action against Bhupinder Singh Honey, the nephew of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.
According to the sources, the polling companies have shared information with the tax department about the details of his ownership.
Sources say there may be a disproportionate assets case against Honey. The IT department may lodge an appeal under the articles of the Benami Property Law.
However, to date, the agencies have made no official statement in this regard.
Honey was arrested on the night of February 3-4 by the ED, who were granted custody until February 8. It was then extended until February 11 and will be presented to court during the day.
During these eight days of interrogation, the ED confronted him with various documents and recorded lengthy statements.
